The first of its kind in Virginia, this exhibit surveys the history of souvenir collecting, the various types of souvenirs, and how souvenirs have evolved throughout the centuries to the most popular form today – the “selfie.” Focusing on the souvenirs of the Commonwealth of Virginia rather than just the Blue Ridge area, this exhibit features over 1,000 collectibles ranging from refrigerator magnets, gorgeous ruby stained glass, and Dale Earnhardt trading cards, to actual human hair. Funded by a generous grant from Virginia Humanities, the exhibit ran until December 2020.
