Ferrum, VA, October 8, 2025 – As part of the Ferrum College Science Seminar Series, Ms. Valarie Roberts will present a seminar about applying to medical school on Friday, October 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Garber Hall, Room 106. The program is free and open to the public as well as the campus community.

Roberts (M.A., Ed.S.) is an admissions appraiser with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) in Roanoke, VA. It is the ninth college of Virginia Tech and is known for small class sizes, project-based learning, outstanding success rates for student Step scores and residency matches, and integrating cutting-edge research projects into the innovative program focused on empowering physician-scientists.
At the science seminar, Roberts will discuss the VTCSOM program and offer advice for applying to medical school. Having evaluated and scored thousands of student applications, participated in interview candidate selections, and proctored the Multiple Mini Interview process, Roberts is excited to share best practices for preparation for the rigorous AMCAS medical school application process and answer specific questions about VTCSOM. The discussion should also be applicable for those who want to attend Veterinary PA and other graduate programs.
