Dear Panther Family,
As we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary of independence, we pause with deep gratitude for the courage, sacrifice and vision that shaped the United States and continue to guide us today. This milestone invites us not only to remember our history, but to renew our commitment to the ideals of freedom, opportunity, and unity that call each generation to help shape a more just, peaceful and hopeful future.
I pray we always remember what a blessing it is to call this nation home. For generations, the United States has been a beacon of freedom and hope for people around the world. It is through this enduring spirit of sacrifice and service that we proudly remain the land of the free because of the brave.
We are forever indebted to those who have answered the call to serve with courage, honor, and devotion. On this special day, we offer our heartfelt gratitude to the brave men and women who serve and protect our nation, past and present, and to the families who stand beside them with unwavering love and sacrifice. The freedoms we cherish have been secured and protected through their selfless service. Let us keep those currently serving around the world in our prayers, asking God to watch over them and bring them home safely to their loved ones.
As we celebrate our nation’s remarkable journey, let us also take time to celebrate and honor one another. Like our country, Ferrum College has come a long way, and our progress has been made possible because we have united in our shared mission of serving others and our unwavering commitment to becoming the destination of choice. Let us cherish and celebrate our own heritage – one firmly rooted in our enduring values of “Not Self, But Others.” May we continue to live those words every day as we work together to build an even brighter future for our students, for our College, and for one another.
May this Independence Day be filled with pride in our shared story, gratitude for those who came before us, appreciation for those who continue to defend and protect our nation, and joyful and peaceful time with the people who matter most.
