Ferrum, VA, May 19, 2025 — The Blue Ridge Institute & Museum (BRIM) of Ferrum College will host a free living history event on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at BRIM’s Blue Ridge Farm Museum. The event will feature the Fincastle Company, a group of dedicated living historians who portray both military and civilian life during the American War of Independence.
Known throughout the mid-Atlantic region for their historically accurate and engaging presentations, members of the Fincastle Company bring the 18th century to life through meticulous research, authentic clothing, period-accurate equipment, and interactive demonstrations. Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to speak with reenactors and experience an immersive portrayal of Revolutionary-era Virginia.
In addition to the Revolutionary War encampment, guests are invited to tour BRIM’s circa-1800 living history farm, where they can learn about rural life in 19th-century Virginia through hands-on interpretation and period demonstrations.
“We are excited to host the Fincastle Company and provide our community with an opportunity to connect with history in such a dynamic way,” said Ferrum College President Mirta Martin. “This event offers an exceptional educational experience for individuals and families of all ages.”
