Perdue completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, and graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Appalachian School of Law in 2010. He returned to Rocky Mount to practice law in the firm founded by his grandfather, Clyde Holland Perdue. Perdue offers legal counsel in civil and criminal matters in courtrooms throughout Virginia, including the Virginia Supreme Court, and he is admitted and qualified to practice law in the United States Supreme Court.

“It is an honor to welcome Mayor Holland Perdue to the Ferrum College Board of Trustees,” said Ferrum College President Mirta Martin. “His commitment to public service and deep-rooted connection to our community reflect the very essence of Ferrum College. His ties to the region and understanding of its evolving needs will be instrumental in expanding opportunities for our students and deepening our impact. We sincerely value his commitment to serve our College. With his support, we are poised to shape a bright future for our students and the region we proudly call home.”

In addition to his legal practice, Perdue runs several small businesses, and invests his time and financial resources to help other entrepreneurs achieve their professional goals. He is also a board member for the Commonwealth Alliance of Rural Colleges, which focuses on affordable, value-based education.

Prior to being elected mayor in 2022, Perdue served as the chair of the Rocky Mount Board of Zoning Appeals.
