HOMECOMING & FAMILY WEEKEND 2022

Homecoming Weekend 2022 will take place on campus October 14 & 15, 2022. Weekend highlights include a Ferrum Takeover event, tailgating, class and athletic team reunions, the football game against Washington & Lee, and much more.  REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!  We look forward to celebrating #ForgedAsOne!

HOMECOMING TAILGATES 

8:00 am • Bassett Field

Claim your space starting at 8:00 am.  Join Tailgate Alley for music, food trucks, and a bounce house throughout the day.  Parking is first come, first serve.  When the lot is full, overflow parking will be opened in adjacent lots.  Panther Club and Handicap Parking for pass holders only behind Adams Stadium.

ALUMNI WELCOME TENT

9:00 am- 2:00 pm • Bassett Field

Stop by, get some free alumni swag, and enter a drawing to win for a $100 bookstore gift certificate!  Check in at our tent and update/verify your contact information for a chance to win.  Winner will be drawn at 1:30 pm and you do not have to be present at drawing to win.  Also, find out where your favorites are tailgating or leave a note for your friends.

AGRICULTURE CLUB REUNION BREAKFAST

Gather for a real southern-style breakfast at the farm! Meet with former classmates, professors and and prospective Agricultural Science students to hear the latest scoop on agricultural and environmental programs. Meet up for a friendly game of hoops with alumni and current students!  All former players – from every class – are invited to join in a bit of friendly competition against the current Panther teams. Meet the 2022-2023 players and coaches and get the latest on the upcoming season.  They will host two different games for all players.

VISIT THE BLUE RIDGE INSTITUTE AND FARM MUSEUM

10:00 am – 4:00 pm • Blue Ridge Institute

Visit the Blue Ridge Institute & Farm Museum and check out two exhibits: Crooked Road Royalty and Crooked Road Musical Styles and Traveler’s Trinkets: Souvenirs of Virginia. The BRI is designated the State Center for Blue Ridge Folklore and is the largest folk life museum in the Old Dominion. The Institute includes a living history nineteenth century farm complete with period animals and gardens, two exhibit galleries, an extensive archive, and a gift shop.

ALUMNI AWARDS AND GOLDEN PANTHERS INDUCTION FOR THE CLASS OF 1972

Registration at 10:00 am ● Luncheon at 11:00 am followed by the Class of ’72 Induction Ceremony ● Blue Ridge Mountain Room, Franklin Hall

The Ferrum College Alumni Awards Ceremony will include the induction of the 2022 Golden Panthers (class of 1972) and the awarding of Ferrum College’s Young Alumni, Distinguished Alumni, and Beckham Medallion award winners. NORTON OUTDOORS CANOE/KAYAK EXPERIENCE

11:00 am -12:45 pm • Adams Lake

Enjoy some paddling on campus!  Our experienced Norton Outdoors staff will provide kayaks and canoes for you to enjoy. Stop by and float on Adams Lake and then be able to take part in the tailgating and football game. This is a weather dependent event and wear some clothes and shoes you do not mind getting wet just in case.  If you have questions, call Norton Outdoors, Aaron Conover at 540-365-4324 or email nortonoutdooradventures@ferrum.edu.  This event is slated for children ages 10 and above.  Under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Complimentary.

BLUEGRASS/OLD-TIME MUSIC HOMECOMING JAM

Appalachian Music at Ferrum College will host a bluegrass/old-time music jam. No need to RSVP but interested alumni are welcome to email ebtucker@ferrum.edu.

HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME

2:00 pm • W.B. Adams Stadium

Football is the anchor of the Homecoming weekend for students and their families, faculty and staff!  Help fill the stands and cheer for Head Coach Cleive Adams and the Panthers as they take on Washington & Lee in this year’s Homecoming matchup.

Halftime activities include the presentation of the Homecoming king and queen and recognition of the Men’s Basketball 1972 NJCAA National Finalists and the 1992 Dixie Conference Champions to celebrate the 50 and 30 year anniversaries, respectively, as well as all basketball alumni in attendance.

Don’t forget to wear your black and gold and share your Panther spirit! Tickets available at the gate. $10.00 cash only.

Hike the Ferrum College trails located behind the tennis courts.

Fishing in Adams Lake

Provide your own equipment.  Catch and release required.  No fishing license is needed on Ferrum’s campus.
