Take the next step in your nursing career. Designed for ADN/AAS-prepared registered nurses, Ferrum College’s accelerated, fully online program will provide a direct, two-year pathway to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)—eliminating the need to earn a BSN first. Choose a Nurse Leader or Nurse Educator track to prepare for high-demand roles in nursing.
This MSN program provides an academically rigorous, practice-focused curriculum that builds upon foundational nursing knowledge and emphasizes leadership, evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and population health. Nurses can advance their careers without leaving their communities.
The MSN: Nurse Leader track is designed to prepare nurses with advanced competencies in healthcare systems management, quality improvement, patient safety, and interprofessional collaboration. This track supports healthcare institutions facing leadership gaps and aligns with national priorities emphasizing value-based care and system-level innovation.
The MSN: Nurse Educator track addresses the persistent shortage of qualified nursing faculty, which is a primary barrier to expanding nursing capacity nationwide, especially in rural areas. Graduates will be prepared to teach in academic or clinical settings.
Ferrum College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
Application for accreditation by the Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) will permit sufficient time for this program to be fully approved for online delivery beginning in fall 2027.
