Introduction to Mass Communication

This is a foundational course that establishes general knowledge about the field of mass media and communication. Students will explore the range of communication methods. Topics include print media, traditional broadcast industries, internet communications, and media regulation.

Advanced News Writing and Editing

This course teaches principles and techniques of information gathering, reporting, and copy-editing; provides extensive practice in writing and editing news stories and releases for various media; and includes the study of the basic elements of journalistic writing, including leads, organization, and style, as tools to achieve accuracy and clarity.

Online Media

This course will explore a variety of online media forms, including social media and virtual environments. It will include a critical examination of existing internet media and discussion of future online media forms.
