The exercise science minor is designed to give a breadth of study to those students who are passionate about the concept of utilizing exercise to improve performance and overall health in a diverse population, in both athletes and nonathletes. Students may choose this minor to complement any human service major focused around health.
Exercise Science Minor Sample Courses
Human Anatomy and Physiology I
The first half of a two-course sequence that involves the study of structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, and systems of the human body. The course utilizes human cadavers for dissection purposes.
Human Anatomy and Physiology II
The second half of a two-course sequence examining the structure and function of various systems of the human body not covered in BIO 254. The course utilizes human cadavers for dissection purposes.
Sports Nutrition
Examines the nutritional needs and requirements of athletes. This course will integrate nutrient metabolism, nutrition science, and exercise physiology as it applies to sport performance, exercise, and health.
