Ferrum, VA, November 12, 2025—This Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15, Ferrum College invites the Panther Community to WEAR GREEN on campus and at the home game on Saturday in memory of the Marshall 75 — including the Ferrum 8 — who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash on November 14, 1970.
Among the 75 people who perished were Coach Rick Tolley—a former Ferrum College assistant coach—and seven former Ferrum football players, all members of the College’s 1968 NJCAA National Championship Team, including:
Those who are able are invited to attend Marshall University’s Memorial Fountain Ceremony on Friday, November 14, at 12:00 noon. The event will be held in Marshall’s Memorial Student Center Plaza to honor the enduring spirit of the players, coaches, and supporters whose lives and love of the game will never be forgotten.
