Ferrum, VA, July 14, 2025 — Ferrum College is pleased to announce a new series of online teacher education courses designed specifically for provisionally licensed teachers seeking to meet the requirements for full licensure.
Starting this summer, these flexible, fully online courses will support educators already working in the classroom by helping them gain the academic credits needed for professional certification. The program is ideal for current teachers with provisional licenses who are looking for convenient, high-quality options to complete their required coursework while continuing to work.
With asynchronous programs of study, participants can work at their own pace and complete courses in just 7 weeks. All courses are designed to meet Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) full licensure requirements.
“With the growing demand for fully licensed teachers in Virginia, including the area of special education, we are working to provide flexible opportunities for working individuals to get the courses they need,” said Director of Online Learning Ashley Williams. “Our faculty consists of experienced educators with years of classroom experience, and our classes are affordable and 100% online.”
“These online offerings demonstrate Ferrum College’s continued commitment to meeting the needs of today’s educators,” added President Mirta Martin. “By supporting teachers on their path to full licensure, we’re not only investing in their professional success—we’re also strengthening the future of education across the Commonwealth.”
