Dr. Hatton brings more than fifteen years of executive leadership experience in enrollment strategy, student success, and institutional growth across mission-driven institutions of higher education.
A visionary and results-oriented leader, Dr. Hatton has built a national reputation for aligning enrollment management with institutional mission, academic excellence, and financial sustainability. His expertise in data-informed decision-making, student-centered recruitment, and cross-functional collaboration will play a critical role as Ferrum College advances its strategic priorities and strengthens its position as a destination of choice for students and families seeking a values-based education.
Dr. Hatton’s leadership is distinguished by his ability to design and execute comprehensive enrollment strategies that are both aspirational and practical. Throughout his career, he has consistently delivered measurable results, including significant increases in applications, enrollment yield, retention, and student academic profiles, while improving the overall student experience from first point of contact through graduation. His experience overseeing financial aid strategy, enrollment marketing, and student engagement initiatives will directly support Ferrum College’s goals of access, affordability, and long-term student success.
Equally important, Dr. Hatton brings a deep understanding of how enrollment management serves as a bridge between academic quality, student life, and institutional reputation. Dr. Hatton holds a Ph.D. in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Campbellsville University, and a B.S. in Business Management from Mid-Continent University. His scholarly work focuses on leadership styles and their impact on organizational culture within liberal arts higher education, an area of study that aligns closely with Ferrum College’s commitment to institutional resilience, adaptability, and mission-driven leadership.
As Vice President for Enrollment Management, Dr. Hatton will lead efforts to strengthen recruitment pipelines, enhance retention and persistence, expand market visibility, and ensure a seamless, personalized enrollment experience that reflects Ferrum College’s values and commitment to student success.
