FERRUM, VA, July 24, 2025 — Ferrum College is proud to announce the appointment of Corretta Patterson ’97 as its new director of Alumni and Family Relations.
A graduate of both Franklin County High School and Ferrum College, Patterson also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Averett University. She brings to this role more than 20 years of global experience in operations leadership across the corporate, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial sectors.
Patterson has held leadership positions with major organizations, including Allstate Insurance Company and Bechtel Corporation, where she directed initiatives in operations, project management, workforce optimization, global recruiting, and vendor relations across the U.S., Australia, and India.
“Corretta is returning to her alma mater to bring a wealth of skills and experience,” said Chris Watters, vice president of Institutional Advancement. “She is a leader with the ability to connect people, empower ideas, and deliver programs that will help Ferrum College build alumni engagement to a new level. We are very excited to have Corretta back home and joining us in the Ferrum mission!”
Patterson is known for her ability to build relationships, drive sustainable growth, and transform systems. She brings strong business and financial acumen to her work in strategic planning, organizational optimization, and human capital management. Her communication skills, collaborative spirit, and dedication have made her a trusted leader throughout her career.
“I am excited to be returning to the Sontag community and to Ferrum College as the director of Alumni and Family Relations,” Patterson said. “Everyone has welcomed me back with open arms. I look forward to connecting and reconnecting with everyone locally and throughout the Ferrum family.”
Outside of work, Patterson enjoys international travel, music, reading, quality time with loved ones, and leading a holistic, active lifestyle.
