Inclement Weather Policy

The Ferrum College Inclement Weather Policy gives faculty, staff, and students as much flexibility as possible during adverse weather conditions. The College will not be considered closed as long as the residential student population is on campus.

In the event of inclement weather, faculty will transition to a Remote Course Delivery Plan:

Faculty may use digital means to hold class, either synchronously through teleconferencing, chatting, or discussion boards, or asynchronously through the Brightspace course management system, webpages, or some other means.
Online classes are not canceled in inclement weather events. Only severe power outages will impact online classes. If a student is experiencing power outages at home, they should contact their instructor when power has been restored.

On occasion, Ferrum College may utilize abbreviated class schedules due to a special event or weather condition. Carefully compare the announced schedule change to the appropriate schedule below.

During inclement weather when classes are canceled or delayed, the dining hall hours will be adjusted. View Dining Services hours here.
