Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

Please join with me in prayerful and solemn remembrance of the terrible tragedy that occurred this morning at Virginia Tech.

Wes Astin, Dean of the Chapel, and Dave Newcombe, Director of Student Leadership and Engagement, are available in the Panthers Den this afternoon to talk with students about this incident as long as needed. The Monday night worship service at 7:00 p.m. in Vaughn Chapel this evening will be dedicated to the memory of the victims. In addition, the Panther's Den will be open tomorrow at 2:00 p.m., during the same time that a convocation is planned at Virginia Tech, for those on our campus who wish to join in prayer and solidarity with the Blacksburg campus. It is difficult for us to understand these senseless and violent acts, but as a faith-based community we will continue to keep Virginia Tech in our thoughts and prayers.
