A grant provided by the federal government to qualified undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and have an Expected Family Contribution below a threshold designated annually by the U.S. Department of Education, based on the amount of program funds appropriated by Congress. Renewability is based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year and meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.

Virginia residents attending Ferrum College may qualify for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG), a state-funded program that helps reduce the cost of attending a private college. Awards are determined annually by the Commonwealth of Virginia and are subject to available funding. Eligible undergraduate students may receive VTAG for up to eight semesters while maintaining Virginia residency and full-time enrollment.

Need-based institutional grant to assist students with costs. Students must complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility. Renewability is based on full-time enrollment and financial need based on the FAFSA each year.
A grant is awarded to undergraduate students based on professional judgment and extenuating circumstances. The grant is for one year only, and students must be full-time and degree-seeking. Award amounts vary and are not renewable.
A grant is awarded to an undergraduate student based on their Cumulative GPA. Transfer students’ merit is based on their previous school cumulative GPA.
Grant awards are presented to new and transfer students based on the date they visit campus. This grant may be renewed for an additional seven semesters, provided the student remains full-time and degree-seeking.
