FERRUM, VA, August 14, 2023 – The Ferrum College Division of Nursing welcomed over 50 new and returning students at a First Day of Class reception at 11 AM in the division common room.
Nursing Division Chair, Dr. Melody Sharp, welcomed students along with the entire nursing staff.
“Please mingle and get to know each other; in Nursing you cannot study by yourself and be successful. Freshmen, welcome! Get to know the Juniors and Seniors – we are all, so glad you are here!”
Senior Nursing students shared words of wisdom and tips for success with their fellow students as well:
Dr. Sharp and the nursing faculty emphasized to freshmen the importance of taking the right courses at the right time to stay on track for success and to ensure graduation within four years.
“We want you to be part of Nursing from the get go – we want to know if you are doing well and the areas you need help in. It is really important that you keep in contact, so we can get you the right resources along the way.”
In keeping with the College motto, ‘Not Self, But Others’, service outside of the classroom is also an important aspect to Nursing at Ferrum College. The students will host a blood drive on September Monday, 18 from 10 AM to 3PM. Donors can sign-up with the Red Cross at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time
