Hey there!
I graduated from Ferrum College and the Boone Honors Program in 2014 with a BS in Pre-Professional Sciences and Biology, with a minor in chemistry. I was heavily involved with many clubs and organizations on campus during my four years there, including the following: independent research, Honors Advisory Council, Admissions Ambassadors, Admissions Bloggers, Minds N’ Medicine, PAL tutors, Tri-Beta, Ferrum Greek Council, and Bible studies to name a few. Most notably I was heavily involved with Mu Sigma Chi and I served as the president for my last two years at Ferrum.
Immediately after graduating Ferrum College, I was accepted into Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine’s dual degree (Ph.D./D.V.M.) program at Virginia Tech. I completed a Ph.D. in Infectious Diseases and Immunology before matriculating into the D.V.M. curriculum with the class of 2021. On May 10, 2021, I received my D.V.M. with the class of 2021.
Having passed national boards, I’ll be working as a practicing veterinarian at Thrive in Charlotte, N.C. I ultimately look to work for the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention in an infectious disease surveillance program, while being involved in private practice.
My years at Ferrum College greatly influenced me and set me on my current path. The priceless relationships and networks created through Ferrum faculty and students still are valuable assets to this day. As an alumnus of Ferrum College and the Boone Honors Program, I can attest to the close-knit community built by the school and the supportive environment for students who seek challenge.
