Welcome to the Office of the Provost!

It is truly a year full of possibilities!

Dr. Aimé Sposato, Provost

It is my pleasure to welcome you to a campus community brimming with Panther Pride, full of collaboration and compassion for others and determined to strive for excellence in all that we do. The Ferrum College community celebrates our rich cultural heritage by connecting students to academic and co-curricular experiences in Southwest Virginia. Students explore the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, lakes, rivers, and small towns that are brimming with regional heritage all around our campus. Our students interact with a world-class group of scholars and staff that make Ferrum College a dynamic place to live, work, and learn. This is the Ferrum Experience!

Ferrum College boasts over 25 distinct majors and 40 minors, which connect students beyond the classroom and across the world. Our students engage with an outstanding group of caring faculty and staff working in three different schools: Arts and Sciences, Health Professions and Social Sciences, and Graduate and Online Education Studies. Our programs prepare young professionals for a wide variety of careers the challenges of an ever-changing world. As Provost, I am committed to ensuring a holistic approach to intellectual and personal growth that encourages active engagement across academic disciplines and within all aspects of campus life.

An institution of our size allows Ferrum College students to work alongside the faculty in the classroom, conducting research, engaging in artistic experiences, or honing their team-building skills on the athletic fields. Our faculty are passionate educators and researchers, and find every opportunity to provide personalized attention to our students. They serve as mentors to some of the brightest and academically courageous students in the nation.

We live each day guided by our Ferrum College motto, “Not Self, but Others.” You cannot help but be transformed by the spirit of this dynamic community. Anything is possible!

I look forward to seeing you on campus.
