The living history farm on Rt. 40 in Ferrum is open every Saturday until Sept. 5, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Next Friday, Sept. 11: Dr. Dana Ghioca-Robrecht, Data Scientist and Aquatic Ecologist, will report on her sabbatical project analyzing 40 years of data.

Come join us for a day in the life of a Ferrum College student. Students and parents will be welcomed to the campus for a short information session about the college. Then students will visit a class in their prospective area of interest. While students are in class, parents will be able to learn more details about the college. Students will then rejoin parents for Admissions and Financial Aid sessions.

Lunch will be provided for families. Lastly, a campus tour will be available for interested families. This event is for all potential incoming high school and transfer students for 2027 and 2028 entry terms.

Also known as the Time Traveler’s Book Club, this group usually discusses one novel per month – different kinds of novels chosen by the group in fall for the following year, and occasionally a nonfiction book.

This is a small community group open to anyone, not a Ferrum College organization. No sign-up or prior notice is required. If you haven’t finished a book (and don’t mind spoilers) or haven’t read the book but you’d like to hear a book discussion anyway and see what it’s like, just show up. Participants acquire the books on their own from a library or bookseller.

Always the fourth Saturday in October, this legendary festival is coordinated by the Blue Ridge Institute & Museum (BRIM), the official State Center for Blue Ridge Folklore and a major venue on The Crooked Road Music Trail.

Celebrating the rich heritage and traditions of the Blue Ridge region, this year’s festival will offer a full day of live entertainment, traditional demonstrations, handcrafted arts, and family-friendly activities, while introducing new artisans, interactive experiences, and expanded attractions. In a new arts and crafts show, more than 100 artisans will offer handmade jewelry, folk art, woodworking, pottery, textiles, and other unique creations.

Traditional foods such as country ham biscuits and fried apple pies are always popular at the festival.

For Ferrum College alumni, this year’s festival will include an alumni breakfast and a lounge area inside Franklin Hall off the patio, instead of a tent outside.
