Housekeeper

Ferrum College has openings in our Housekeeping Department.  Housekeeping includes general housekeeping duties in residential halls, office/classroom buildings, and other buildings. This includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, trash removal.  Must be capable of a full range of body motions including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and walking.

This is a full time, 40-hour week position with occasional weekend and overtime work. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Driver’s license and good driving record required. Background check required.

Housekeeping Floor Care Technician

Ferrum College has an opening for a Floor Care Technician.  Job duties would involves running floor buffers and burnishers to clean carpet, wax and polish floors and occasional stripping wax from floors.  There will be times when you will be required to do housekeeping schedules or trash removal.

Occasionally lift & carry up to 75 pounds and be capable of a full range of body motions including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and walking.

Financial Aid Counselor

Ferrum College is accepting applications for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. The College seeks an energetic individual to become part of a successful team.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong Oral and written communications
  • Ability to work effectively with other members of the team and with students and their families
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be flexible
  • Proficient with good office practices such as record keeping and telephone etiquette
  • Knowledge and experience in database functions
  • Knowledge of financial aid practices is preferred, but not required
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask

Grounds Enhancement Manager

Ferrum College has an immediate opening for a Grounds Enhancement Manager in our Physical Plant Department. The Grounds Enhancement Manager performs all activities relating to the maintenance and beautification of campus, all grounds, roads, walks, parking lots, and other areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.

Primary responsibilities include maintenance of campus grounds to include seeding, fertilizing, watering, planting, mowing, spraying, leaf collection, trimming, and removal and planting; assist in the development of landscape plans and advise the Director of Physical Plant Services in acquisition of all items required for such plans. Operates assigned grounds maintenance equipment and snow plows.

This is a full time, 40-hour week position. Occasional weekend and overtime work required. Must be able to lift and carry 20-50 pounds on a regular basis and work in all types of weather. Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Preferred qualifications include Class B Commercial Driver’s License, Pesticide Certification, and prior experience in athletic field maintenance.

On Call Drivers

(Ongoing/recurring seasonal status)

Ferrum College is accepting applications for On-call Drivers to assist in meeting the transportation needs of Ferrum College. Vehicles used will be provided by the College. Responsibilities may include transporting students on College-sponsored field trips, special events, or other off-campus opportunities; performing routine fueling and pre-trip inspection of vehicles; and recordkeeping. This position requires some overnight travel. A background check and driving check are required.

Applicants must be over 21 years of age; have a current drivers license and good driving record; have the ability to drive safely in all types traffic conditions in both rural and urban settings; and must be willing to submit to post-offer and annual background checks, including Motor Vehicle Report checks. Drivers may be required to undergo drug testing initially and periodically. Drivers are required to operate vehicles in accordance with the Ferrum College Vehicle Safety Policy and other College policies as procedures, as well as applicable state and federal laws.
