Rock Climbing

Ferrum Outdoors is offering a variety of opportunities to experience the art of moving over rock. We provide all the equipment and transportation to give you the chance to explore this fun, unique and physically demanding sport.

There is also a bouldering wall beside the fitness center. All you need is a pair of climbing shoes. Don't have any? Check with the Ferrum Outdoors office and they will be glad to let you borrow a pair. The wall is free of use and is a good way to get in that afternoon bouldering session right here on campus!

Rock Climbing Trips for Spring Semester (pre-registration required)

Indoor Rock Climbing– Climbing inside at River Rock is a great way to

learn techniques and hone your skills while it is cold outside.

Transportation and equipment provided.SAT 1/25 & 2/8

Register by FRI, 1/24 & 2/7
Departs at 11:30am from the Lower Franklin Parking Lot.
Returns by 5:00pm


Climbing Tower Session-Come out and climb on our new and improved

tower at the Ropes Course. This is a great way to work out, learn new skills

and have fun. Transportation and equipment provided.
Register by the FRI, 3/28
Departs at 5:30pm from the Lower Franklin Parking Lot
Returns by 7:30pm


Rock Climbing- Scale the rocks at Pilot Mountain State Park in North Carolina

while learning about the techniques and skills that are involved in this great sport.

No previous experience is required. Transportation, equipment, instruction and

lunch provided.
