To the Students of Ferrum College, As the Student Government Association President, I am privileged and honored to be able to serve the student body as an intermediary between the students and the faculty/staff at Ferrum College. It is my personal goal to be available to listen to every student’s opinion about everything concerning their college experience in order to create an agenda for the SGA that better reflects the wishes and desires of the students. The SGA is also responsible for much of the programs and activities that take place on campus and it is a major goal of the SGA cabinet to provide activities for students that are more engaging and desirable for the student body as a whole. Some of the major plans for this year include an increase in attendance at programs sponsored by campus clubs and organizations as well as the restoration of the natural beauty that Ferrum College’s campus has to offer. A variety of new activities will be offered this year as well as the traditional programs such as Snow Ball, Homecoming, the Big Fall Concert and Spring Fling. Food Services will be sponsoring many of these new activities while focusing on offering a variety of food choices and entertainment to better suit the preferences of the students. The natural beauty of the Southern Appalachians provides Ferrum with the opportunity to have one of the most aesthetically attractive campuses in the country, if not the world. There is a new focus being expressed by the students on the environmental health of the campus including but not limited to the ecosystem that exists in and around Adam’s Lake. It will be part of the SGA’s mission during the next two semesters to address these concerns as well as any others that may arise. Each student at Ferrum College has an opinion that matters to the Student Government Association. Please express these opinions to any of the officers of the SGA or by stopping by the SGA office in the Student Leadership and Engagement Office. Every comment or concern will be thoroughly considered when proposals are being created and action is being taken to fulfill the mission of the SGA. With the support of the SGA cabinet I hope to provide the best experience possible for each student who attends Ferrum College during the 2007-2008 and future academic years. Sincerely,
