"We've made houses for hatred / Its time we made a place / Where people's souls may be seen and made safe / Be careful with each other / These fragile flames / For innocence can't be lost / It just needs to be maintained. "
~Jewel Kilcher
Landscape: "And then I Knew"
Inspired by a photograph of the turn below my house that leads to the river.
I happened upon that spot the very moment the ray of sun shot through the trees;
it was a kind of epiphany (like Annie Dillard's Tree with the Lights in it).
Woman and the Heron: "These Things I Hold"
A representation of all the things that "make" me.
Surreal waterfall: "And I Am Like Water"
Focal points that lead the eye in a kind of circular motion much like the water cycle.
Abstract Female Figure: "Strength"
I first saw this in wood grains on the back of a bathroom stall door.
The curves of the woman were obvious in the wood, and I thought it quite
appropriate to represent how strong a woman can be.
