Twenty-five teachers will receive stipends of $2,800 each to discuss
mainstreaming regionalism in the liberal arts curriculum. From a range of
disciplines, the Institute will examine Appalachian issues that provide a
window on the wider world. Institute leaders expect to choose participants
from many regions of the country, not just Appalachia. Institute faculty
are Stephen L. Fisher, Denise Giardina, Tina Hanlon, Patricia A. Johnson,
Clyde Kessler, George Loveland, Susan Mead, Roddy Moore, Crandall
Shifflett, Carolyn Thomas, Vaughan Webb, Charles Reagan Wilson, and Daniel
Woods. The director is Peter Crow (pcrow@ferrum.edu; 540/365-4320). |
