Gauley River Rafting '04 This
was the third year for rafting on the Gauley River in West Virginia.
Four years ago students went to the Nolichucky River in Tennessee. It
was a very mellow float down the river. Students had a great time, but
said they wanted something more adventurous. There are no complaints
of needing more excitement on the Gauley trip! The Gauley River is rated
one of the top ten rivers in the world for whitewater rafting with up
to class IV and V rapids. The participants this year were Barak Brashear,
Jared Cypher, Chris Smoot, Ed Kladder, Marina Svetlova, and Fiona Diamond.
Rich Long and Linwood Clayton provided trip leadership. Everyone had
a great time! This was the first year no one fell out of the raft. A
