Keynote Speaker: Dr. David L. Warren, president, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities

Senior Speaker: Mr. Jay Robert Greeley, Jr. (full copy of speech enclosed), of Leesburg, VA.
Greeley majored in Business Administration with emphasis on Finance, Management and Decision Support Systems. He minored in Economics. Jay’s parents are Jay and Bonnie Greeley, also of Leesburg. Jay is a graduate of Loudon County High School (1998).

Special Recognitions:

Faculty- Two Cheatham Fellowships- R. Rex Stephenson and Mike Trochim, for their current collaborative work on a new theatrical production for the Blue Ridge Dinner Theater.

Students- The Senior Academic Excellence Award, given to Top Scholar Nicholas Elliott, of Salem, VA the Arthur S. Owens Leadership Award, given to Jay Greeley, of Leesburg, VA and the James T. Catlin Citizenship Award, given to Rebecca Saunders, of Madison Heights, VA

This is Dr. Boone’s 15th and final Commencement at Ferrum College.

This is Ferrum’s first Saturday Commencement.

Ferrum College was accredited as a four-year college by the Southern Association of Colleges in 1976.

Ferrum College is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

There are 35 majors, including Horticulture and Sports Management.

Total enrollment- approx. 1,000.

Twenty-six states and 5 countries are represented in the student body.

Ferrum was one of the first colleges in the nation to put a computer in every residence hall room at no extra charge to the students.
