SIFE Wins 11th Straight Regional Competition
The Ferrum College Students in Free Enterprise
(SIFE) won its eleventh straight regional SIFE competition held at the
Wyndham Hotel in Baltimore, Md., on Thursday, April 5th.
SIFE faculty advisor Dr. Demetri Tsanacas, professor
of Business and Economics stated, The students did a great job
representing themselves, Ferrum College, and free enterprise. I am very
proud of each of them personally and of the success that they have achieved.
I wish them luck at the Nationals held in Kansas City.
SIFE enables students from all majors to educate
the school and the community about business. SIFE took its student members
into Franklin County elementary and middle schools to teach them about
business through games such as LIFE and Monopoly. SIFE was
also able to demonstrate business practices to the other students at
Ferrum College through presentations on etiquette and credit and by
opening the first Subway franchise on a Virginia college or university
campus.
It was a unique [Power Point] presentation of this academic years
SIFE projects that gave Ferrum College the win over such schools as
Mary Baldwin College, Davis and Elkins College, LaSalle University,
and University of Maryland Eastern Shore. With the win at regional competition,
the Ferrum College SIFE team has earned the right to compete at the
National SIFE convention held in Kansas
City, Mo.
