Former FBI Leader Addresses Organized Crime
As part of International Focus Week
at Ferrum College, Rick Robillard, an expert in foreign organized
crime and Internet crime, will speak on the topic The Impact
of International Crime on the United States, at 7:30 p.m.
on Thursday, March 29 in Lower Franklin Hall. Robillard is the former
head of the FBI Headquarters Strategic Operations Intelligence Center.
Were very fortunate that
Ferrum College brings these programs to us. Many law enforcement
agencies can take advantage of hearing speakers who have expertise
in national issues with potential local fallout, said Franklin
County Sheriff W.Q. Overton.
Robillard entered duty with the FBI
in 1978. As an FBI Academy graduate, he was assigned to investigate
white collar crimes. In 1982, he was selected to serve on the U.S.
Congress Committee on Appropriations, Surveys, and Investigations
staff where he specialized in Department of Defense funding issues.
In 1995, he was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge, where
he managed all major investigative programs, including Organized
Crime and Drugs, White Collar Crimes, and Foreign Counter Intelligence.
In 1998 he entered the Senior Executive
Service at the FBI Headquarters, where he oversaw the FBIs
Organized Crime and Drug Programs, prior to being designated Chief
of Criminal Intelligence.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information,
contact Dr. Ken McCreedy, director of the Criminal Justice program
at Ferrum College, at (540) 365-4392.
