The
Smith Mountain Lake Barbershop Chorus, The Harmeneers will
present a special version of its Year 2001 Annual Show: Let Freedom
Ring at Ferrum College, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Sigmon Recital
Hall, Grousbeck Music Center. The event is free, and the community is
welcome to attend.
The
90-minute program, underwritten by Ferrum College and the Franklin Guild,
is dedicated to all veterans, especially those of world Wars I and II,
the Korean War, the War in Vietnam and to the valiant police and firefighters
of the United States.
The
Harmeneers were formed in 1992. The group is a Chapter of the Society
for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing
in America, Inc. Bill Story, who serves as co-chairman of the show,
as well as announcer, says The Harmeneers meet every Monday evening
at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Rte. 122, Moneta and warmly welcome
visitors. Men interested in singing are invited to join the group for
fun, fellowship, and the joy of singing four-part male harmony a capella.
