Ferrum’s 92nd Commencement Ceremony to Take Place May 3rd

     On Saturday, May 3rd at 10:30 a.m. 150 prospective seniors will graduate from Ferrum College during outdoor commencement ceremonies led by Dr. Jennifer L. Braaten, Ferrum’s 10th president.  A Baccalaureate service will be held in Vaughn Chapel the previous evening, Friday May 2nd, at 7:30 p.m.

     Commencement speaker, Dr. Alice Brown, is President of the Appalachian College Association, a consortium of 35 higher educational institutions of which Ferrum is a long-time member.  Dr. Brown will also be presented with an honorary degree from Ferrum College during the ceremonies. 

     Student awards to be announced at the event include the James T. Catlin, Jr., Citizenship Award, the Arthur S. Owens Leadership Award, and the Senior Academic Excellence Award.  Other awards to be presented include the Exemplary Faculty Award, the Cheatham Fellowship and the Benjamin M. Beckham Medallion, Ferrum’s highest alumni honor.

     Immediately following the ceremony, a picnic lunch for graduates and guests will be held on the lawn.
