| Ferrum College will participate in V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls with a special production of “The Vagina Monologues” February 22nd and 23rd at 7:30 p.m. in Grousbeck Auditorium. Student admission is $3.00 and general admission is $5.00. Donations will also be accepted. Proceeds will go to The Franklin County Family Resource Center. “The Vagina Monologues” are a celebration of female sexuality and all its complexity and mystery, written by Eve Ensler. This play contains adult language and themes. Since 1998, thousands of V-Day events have taken place all over the world and over $50 million dollars has been raised for local anti-violence groups. To date, events have been taking place in over 120 countries with thousands more planned during the upcoming anniversary year. According to the website www.vday.org, the V-Day movement has educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, crafted international educational, media and PSA campaigns, launched the Karama program in the Middle East, reopened shelters, and funded over 5000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Kenya, South Dakota, Haiti, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Iraq.
