| A
new and exciting summer art exhibit is on display at Ferrum College
at the Greer Gallery of Ferrum’s Thomas Stanley Library. Nancy Hart,
Assistant Professor of Art, has put together 35 examples of oil and
acrylic paintings, watercolors and watermedia, pastels and sculpture
from eight regional artists. The exhibit called “Paint Trails,” includes
work from Virginia artists Jane Iten, Vera Dickerson, Ruth Frederick,
Revelle Hamilton, Shirley Johnson, and Carolyn Hart. Susan Trotter of
North Carolina and Suzanne Davis Ross of West Virginia also have works
in the show. The artists, who call themselves “The Virginia 8,” have been painting together for 10 years. They call their exhibits “Paint Trails” because they travel to different locations to do their work. Suzanne Ross says, “For those who want to travel and are interested in seeing how an artists sees another place, this is a perfect place to start. We want to encourage others who are interested in art, to paint.” The exhibit, which is on display through August 15th, is primarily made up of landscapes and nautical scenes. “Paint Trails” will be available to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays through August 15, 2007 in the Greer Gallery of Ferrum’s Thomas Stanley Library. For directions and parking information, call the library at 540-365-4428.
