of inclement weather, activities will be held at the Fitness Center. To kick off the Relay for Life, Diem Brown, one of the stars from MTV’s Reality TV show, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, will speak on Wednesday, March 28. Brown will talk about her battle with cancer and her roles on Reality TV while dealing with the disease. A question and answer session will follow. Her speech will be held in the Sale Theater on the campus of Ferrum College at 7:30 p.m. Cost for the event is $5 to the public and free for Ferrum College Students. Then on Friday, March 30 at 6 p.m. Relay for Life will begin and will continue into the morning hours with several activities and plenty of fun entertainment. The night’s theme is “Cartoons for a Cure” and each team will choose a different cartoon character as a mascot for the night. A survivor reception will be held prior to the opening ceremonies, and then the survivor lap will follow. The night will include entertainment from various bands including, Kerosene Willy; whose genre covers rock, soul, and funk, D.J. Jeff Crouse, who will bring down the house until 6 a.m., and special appearances by Ferrum College’s own, the infamous Bald Brothers. There will be several games, movies, and other forms of entertainment between the musical performances. The highlight of the event will be the luminary lap, which will be held at 9 p.m., as the field will be lit with luminaries purchased in memory of loved ones who have suffered, survived, or died from cancer. College’s Against Cancer, Student Leadership and Engagement, and other clubs and organizations on campus and in the Ferrum community sponsor the event.
