The Ferrum College School of Arts and Humanities is proud to present QuinTango, a quintet of two violins, cello, bass and piano dedicated to the musical performance of tango.

    The group was formed in 1995 after violinist Joan Singer and four of her friends came together to work through some tango music she had been given. A new sound was quickly born. Over the next three years the group not only found themselves expanding their repertoires, but also performing tango concerts nationally and internationally, producing a CD, and developing a huge fan base.

    The group gained attention around the country in 1999 when they were invited to give a Command Performance at the White House along with Robert Duval. That year they also traveled to their first out-of-state concert and their first overseas concerts. The group started touring in 2000, joining the Virginia Tour Directory, making their debut appearance as a Virginia Touring Artists at the Virginia Highlands Festival in Abingdon. QuinTango has become one of Washington's favorite musical groups.

    QuinTango will perform April 23rd at 7:30pm in the Sale Theatre at Ferrum College. The performance is free to the general public; however, donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the St James Food Bank.
