Keynote Speaker: Thomas R. Morris, Secretary of Education
for the Commonwealth of Virginia will deliver the commencement keynote
address. Dr. Thomas R. Morris began serving as Secretary of Education
for the Commonwealth of Virginia in the Administration of Governor

Senior Speaker: W. Kyle Carter, of Zuni, VA will
be the senior speaker for 2006. Kyle is graduating with a B. S. in
Environmental Science.

- The most exciting amount of activity in fifty years of Ferrum College’s
history is nearly completed in several areas of campus. The massive
construction and renovation initiative, named “FerrumPLUS” for its
obvious value to campus and the student experience, has filled campus
with an invigorating sense of change and progress, marked by new construction
fencing and the sounds of the efficient work of Branch & Associates.

- On Friday, May 12th the new residence hall was officially named
Arthur Hall in honor of Ferrum’s 7th President, Dr. Ralph Arthur.

- This academic year has also seen the reopening of the beloved Beckham

- Franklin Hall, still undergoing its transformation, has opened new
student leadership and fellowship space inside, including a sports
grill, student offices, a redesigned cafeteria and performance space.

- The new Skeens Alumni Conference Center is nearly complete and will
be utilized by The Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre during their summer season.

- Graduating this year is Mina Ayob of Kabul, Afghanistan. Mina arrived
at Ferrum in the fall of 2002 for four years as part of the Ferrum
outreach to Afghanistan. Sasha Saari, professor of Russian, played
a critical role in the arrival of Mina, and will be helping her in
her global transition.
