The Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre will
hold local auditions for the 2006 season on March 26 beginning at 1:00
p.m. by appointment. The March 26 auditions are for full-time company
members; the BRDT will hold auditions for youth performers in June.
Instructions for completing videotape auditions are available on-line
at www.blueridgedinnertheatre.com. The 2006 season includes The Odd Couple, Jack Tales, Jeff!, Jonah and the Big Fish, Smoke on the Mountain, Kids Say the Darndest Things. These productions have roles for people of all racial backgrounds. The BRDT encourages either one or two monologues of no more than ninety seconds each. Performers doing two monologues should be sure that the monologues contrast in some way. For those who sing or play musical instruments, the BRDT directors want to hear a song or portion of a song of about sixteen bars. The BRDT does not hire dancers only, but is interested in seeing how well performers can follow simple dance patterns that the music director will present during the audition process. The directors will watch a prepared dance sequence of sixty seconds for those performers who wish to present a more complex dance; performers must provide their own music. All actors should provide a headshot and resume. The Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre expects to hire several resident company members. These people must have some college or equivalent dramatic experience, must be available to work full time from May 17 through August 6, and must be able to live at Ferrum College. Additionally, the BRDT may be willing to consider Apprentice Company Members. These people must be high school graduates or first year college students who want to gain dramatic experience. To make a specific appointment for the March 26 local auditions, contact the Executive Director, Dr. Jody D. Brown, by email at jbrown@ferrum.edu, or the Business Manager, Joyce Spangler, by phone at the box office—540-365-4335—between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Appointments begin at 1:00 p.m. Performers will audition in the Flexible Theatre of Schoolfield Hall at Ferrum College.
