Ferrum College will exhibit the works of
six senior art majors in a show entitled, “The Six Sided Systematic
Synopsis of Society,” from April 22 to May 12, 2006. The exhibition
will be on display in the E. Taylor Greer Gallery of Stanley Library
on the Ferrum campus. The opening reception will be held Saturday,
April 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the gallery and it is open to the
public.
The seniors whose works will be presented are Travis
Dean of Staunton, VA, who will exhibit the mixed media of man made
found objects mixed with technology. John Ferrell, a ceramic artist
that experiments with different sculptural forms and George Masten,
Fort Lauderdale, FL, will exhibit sculptures and paintings that are
visual representations of emotions, as well as a visual narrative
exploration of the story of Nat Turner. Autumn Nuckols of Suffolk
VA, will display photography and mixed media examining personal memories,
influences, and expressions in a variety of two and three dimensional
media including wood, paper, and assorted objects. Also, Nicki Rodgers
of Bassett, VA, will exhibit abstract paintings and drawings influenced
by the automatism style which allows viewers to create pictures from
the abstract forms and Courtney Shifflett, of Hot Springs, VA will
exhibit a series of studies in acrylic, an altered book, and sculptures
