What is Virginia Private College Week?
During Virginia Private College Week (PCW), the 24 members of the
Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) with undergraduate
programs will host two daily Open House programs for prospective
students and their families. The program may include campus tours,
financial aid and admissions workshops, and curriculum/program overviews.
On Monday-Friday (August 1-5), there will be a morning (9am) and
afternoon (2pm) session. On Saturday (August 6), there will be a
morning (9am) session only.
Save Money with Virginia Private College Week!
Virginia private colleges offer students a friendly, academic community
where teaching comes first and students receive personal attention
and mentoring. In addition to visiting excellent private colleges
in the state, you could SAVE money by participating in PCW! If you
visit four or more of the participating colleges during the week,
you will receive three application fee waivers. That means NO APPLICATION
FEE for three Virginia private colleges of your choice (approximate
value is $100)!
The fee waivers can be redeemed at any of the 24 undergraduate colleges
that are members of CICV.
Here’s how you participate:
1. Decide which colleges you would like to visit.
2. Organize your travel plans. Driving directions are available
on individual college web sites.
3. Pick up a passport at the first college you visit, after completing
the tour.
4. At the end of each tour, have the college stamp your passport.
5. Mail your completed passport to CICV to receive your fee waivers.
Do I need to register?
No, but we strongly recommend that you contact the schools you
plan to visit. Addresses and telephone numbers of participating
institutions are available from each institution's web page.
Who provides the transportation?
This is not an organized bus tour. Students and their families will
visit the colleges on their own, using their own transportation.
CICV is more than happy to answer any questions you have regarding
directions and travel time between colleges.
