The Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre, in its twenty-sixth season, will produce Just So Stories, a new musical based on the book by Rudyard Kipling. R. Rex Stephenson adapted the stories with music by Emily Rose Tucker and lyrics by Kipling and Stephenson. Underwritten by BB&T, performances are scheduled from June 29 to July 2 in the East Auditorium of the Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Rocky Mount.

In Just So Stories, Kipling spins a series of fanciful tales set "when the world was new and everything was just so." The audience learns "How the Camel Got His Hump," "How the Elephant Got His Trunk," "How the Whale Got His Spout," "How the First Letter Was Written," and "Why the Cat Walks by Himself." The Just So Stories offers imaginative characters, lively songs, and timeless themes.

The cast for Just So Stories includes the actors in the Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre's 26th season. Those performers come from around the country: Massachuetts, New Jersey, Nebraska, Maryland, and Virginia. They will be joined by seventeen youth from Franklin County including Blake Allen, Kane Allen, Taylor Allen, Zach Allen, Kelly Bennett, Dakotah Kelly, Amelia Pagans, McKenzie Prillaman, Casey Robertson, Brittany Stone, Arthur Stump, Blaire Stump, Cheryl Stump, Ruth Trochim, Drew Turner, Kasey Winnemuth, and Kaitlin Wray.

Matinees of Just So Stories are on June 29 and July 1 at 2:00 pm; evening performances are June 30 and July 2 at 7:30 pm. For more information about the production and for reservations, please call the box office at 540-365-4335 or contact the theatre by email at brdt@ferrum.edu.
