(KANSAS
CITY, MO) The Ferrum College Students In Free Enterprise Team will be
one of more than 180 SIFE Teams from across the nation competing at
the 2004 SIFE USA National Exposition hosted by the Kansas City Business
Community, May 23-25. Two teams will emerge as the RadioShack SIFE USA
National Champion, and the winning team in the four-year college division
will move on to represent the United States at SIFE World Cup 2004 in
Barcelona, Spain, competing against national champions from more than
25 other countries. A panel of judges honored Ferrum College SIFE with
the regional champion award for the 15th straight year in April at a
competition in Charlotte, NC.
Ferrum College SIFE advanced to the SIFE USA
National Exposition by winning at the regional level in early spring.
At regional competition, the team was judged best at teaching people
of all ages the principles of free enterprise. Ferrum College SIFE not
only taught free enterprise, but team members made a difference in the
Franklin County community by developing projects to meet specific needs
of community members. Students In Free Enterprise encourages students
to take what they are learning in the classroom and apply it to real-life
situations, using their knowledge to better their communities through
educational outreach projects. Ferrum College SIFE touched the Franklin
County community this year in several ways, including the Career Services
Professional Protocol Dinner for Seniors (for photos see the following
site: http://www.ferrum.edu/news/2004Spring/protocol.htm).
In addition to competition, Ferrum College
