Ferrum
College announced today that Dr. Lee King will return to Ferrum College
as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Dr. Lee King leaves
his role as the Executive Director of the Patrick Henry Boys and Girls
Plantation in Brookneal to rejoin Ferrum College this August. Prior
to his appointment at the Plantation, Dr. King was Associate Vice-President
for Development at Ferrum College. He has also worked at Virginia Intermont
College in Bristol, and began his career as an English teacher at Hargrave
Military Academy.
Dr. King remarked, "My family and I are
thrilled to be returning to Franklin County and to the Ferrum family.
The College is entering a new era of progress and growth, and I'm thankful
to be a part of it all."

and endeavors for Ferrum College,” said Dr. Jennifer L. Braaten, president
of Ferrum College. “His skills and leadership are a perfect fit for
the College and Institutional Advancement in particular. Lee returns
to us with the enthusiastic support of those who worked with him before
in Institutional Advancement."
A native of Clifton Forge, VA, Dr. King was
educated at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham. He holds a Bachelor
of Arts degree with double majors in English and history from Hampden-Sydney
College, and a Master of Education degree from Lynchburg College. He
also holds a Doctor of Education degree from the Curry School of Education
at the University of Virginia.
Dr. King is married to the former Tammy Belton
of Lynchburg. They have a three year old son, Jacob, and a one year
old daughter, Katie. Tammy is a full-time mother, a reading specialist,
and an adjunct reading professor for the University of Virginia.
Dr. King is a licensed private pilot,
and in his free time he enjoys flying, fly fishing, canoeing and camping.
