| Ferrum
College will welcome the Board of Trustees to campus the weekend of
November 5th, 2004, including six new Board Members. Those joining the
Board are: Mrs. Thelma B. Crowder, Mrs. Elizabeth, “Ibby” T. Greer,
Bishop Charlene P. Kammerer, Mrs. Peggy A. Oakes, Mr. Danny M. Perdue
’66 and Mr. Craig L. Rascoe ’74.
Mrs. Thelma B. Crowder of South Boston is a
member of the United Methodist Women, serving on their Conference Nominating
Committee, a retired public school teacher and high school librarian
with Bachelor and Masters’ degrees from Duke University. She has served
on the Board of Visitors for Duke Divinity School and the Board of Trustees
of the Old Rectory in Epworth, England. Crowder is a member of Delta
Kappa Gamma who also serves as the Southeastern Jurisdiction United
Methodist Historical Society President.
Mrs. Elizabeth “Ibby” T. Greer is a resident
of Rocky Mount, VA where she is a writer, publisher of books and the
Blue Ridge Traditions Magazine, and bookstore owner. Greer has a B.A.
from Hollins College and an M.A. from the University of Colorado. She
has served on the National Women’s Council for the Women’s Center of
the University of Virginia, as State Chair for the Virginia Daughters
of the American Revolution’s Public Relations Committee as well as the
Henry Corbin Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Danville and the
Town and Country Garden Club of Roanoke. Greer will also serve Ferrum’s
Board of Trustees on the Executive Committee.
Bishop Charlene P. Kammerer, recently announced
Bishop for the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church, lives
in Glen Allen, VA. A former Campus Minister at Duke University, Kammerer
has an A.B. from Wesleyan College, a M.A.C.E. and M.Div. from Garrett-Evangelical
Theological Seminary and a D.Min. from United Theological Seminary.
She has served on a number of Boards including the Board of Trustees
at Randolph-Macon Academy, Randolph-Macon College, Randolph-Macon’s
Woman’s College, Shenandoah University, Virginia Wesleyan College, and
Wesley Theological Seminary. Kammerer is a Member of the General Board
of Discipleship and the Task Force of the Bishops’ Initiative on Children
and Poverty.
Mrs. Peggy A. Oakes of Dry Fork, VA, is a member
and President of the Danville District of United Methodist Women. With
a B.S. and Paralegal Certificate from Averett University, Oakes is an
Office Manager with Danville Pathologists, Inc. She is a Member of the
District Nominations and Facilitations for the United Methodist Church,
the Henry Fork Service Center Board, and the Council on Ministries,
Finance & Pastor/Parish Committee at Grace-Design United Methodist
Church.
Mr. Danny M. Perdue ’66, of Rocky Mount, VA,
is the owner and operator of six Minute Markets, Redwood Fuel Oil and
Propane, two automatic car washes and Franklin Shopping Center. He is
the President of the United Way of Franklin County, a Board Member of
the YMCA of Franklin County, a Member of the Rocky Mount Rotary Club
and a Director of both the Franklin Community Bank and Mainstreet Holding
Company. He is a former President of the Franklin County Chamber of
Commerce. Perdue will also serve Ferrum’s Board of Trustees on the Executive
Committee.
Mr. Craig L. Rascoe ’74, of Richmond, VA, is
an Attorney at Williams Mullen in Richmond. With an A.A. from Ferrum
College, a B.S. from the University of Richmond and a J.D. from the
University of Richmond School of Law, Rascoe is a Member of the Virginia
and American Bar Associations. He serves on the Executive Board of the
Volunteer Emergency Families for Children and is both on the Executive
Board and serves as Council President for the Heart of VA Council. Active
in the Boy Scouts of America, Rascoe is also the Treasurer of the Western
Henrico Rotary Club. Rascoe will also serve Ferrum’s Board of Trustees
on the Executive Committee.
