On October 29th Ferrum College and Valley Metro will begin regular bus service to the Rocky Mount and Roanoke areas for Ferrum College students, faculty and staff as well as any interested public riders. The bus service will run on Fridays from 5:00pm to 1:00am and on Saturdays from 1:00pm to 1:00am. Children under the age of 12 may not ride unaccompanied. This service is offered free to the public due to the contributions of Ferrum College, the Franklin County Board of Supervisors, and the Rocky Mount town council.

The Ferrum Express will begin its route at the Ferrum College campus in front of the lake and newly renovated Stanley Library Annex and continue to Rocky Mount, where it will make stops in the downtown market area, at the Eagle Cinema movie theater and Wal-Mart. From Rocky Mount the bus will travel to the bus depot near the Roanoke Market and begin its journey back to Ferrum College. These particular stops allow Ferrum College students transportation and opportunity to visit businesses and entertainment opportunities in Rocky Mount as well as Roanoke, where they can connect with other bus programs to visit local colleges, the airport and more. Roanoke citizens can also take the Ferrum Express to visit shops in the Franklin County area.

There will be signs at each location the bus stops with the Ferrum Express logo on them as well as Valley Metro’s contact information.
