Students enrolled in a studio art class this semester at Ferrum College will exhibit their works in the Spring 2004 Juried Student Art Show, exhibiting April 1 through April 25, in the E. Taylor Greer Gallery, Stanley Library. A reception will be held April 1, 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the gallery. The reception is open to the public. There will be entries from drawing, painting, clay, jewelry, sculpture, and computer art and graphics. The judge will award 18 ribbons: six blue ribbons of excellence, first place; six red ribbons of merit, second place; and six yellow ribbons of honorable mention, third place. Exhibit visitors will be given a chance to vote for their favorite work of art. Near the end of the reception, the piece with the most votes will be awarded the white ribbon of People's Choice Award. The art exhibit is free to the public and is open during Stanley Library hours. “This is usually the favorite of the semester. Almost everyone knows someone whose work is in the art show. It is the most anticipated.” Rachel Denham, associate professor of Art. Ferrum College is a four-year, private, co-educational, liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
