Ferrum College will exhibit the works of five senior art majors from February 21-March 19, 2004. The group exhibition will be in the E. Taylor Greer Art Gallery in Stanley Library on the campus of Ferrum College. The reception is February 21, 2-4 p.m. in the art gallery and is open to the public. William Smith , Martinsville, will exhibit a series of portrait drawings executed in graphite and pen-and-ink, and sculptures relating to the human figure. Gary “Beebo” Buchanan , St. Charles, will exhibit figurative drawings in graphite and pastel relating to sports and outdoor recreation and stone sculptures that are more abstract in form. Sandy Southard is a photographer and mixed media artist from Mechanicsville. Her works examine personal memories, influences, and expressions. They are executed in a variety of two and three-dimensional media, including wood, plaster, and assorted objects. Denny Leonard , from Hampton, will exhibit imaginative digital illustrations of a children's story, and stylized landscapes, and drawings in various media. The drawings are more representational in nature, and take a fresh look at elements in the real world. Amanda Tipton will exhibit works inspired by her family, her home in Frankford, WV as well as works related to the personal growth she has experienced during the years spent away from her home and family. Tipton utilizes a variety of media in her two and three-dimensional paintings and sculptures.
