On Sunday, February 22, 2004, Ferrum College inducted twenty-four new members into Alpha Chi, the national coeducational honor society for juniors and seniors. Alpha Chi derives from Greek words meaning truth and character. Since the birth of Alpha Chi in 1922, over 215,000 members have been inducted. Requirements for Ferrum College are a 3.6 GPA and at least 30 hours at Ferrum College. Generally, no more than 10% of either class is inducted into Alpha Chi. Alpha Chi has an initiation fee of $35 for lifetime membership. Alpha Chi is the highest recognition aside from being valedictorian or salutatorian at Ferrum College. Scholarship money for continued education is available to members of Alpha Chi. 2004’s Alpha Chi inductees from Ferrum College are: Michael Samuel Coleman, Shana Arlette Davis, Ginger Harris Dillon, Renée Dean Dudley, Janet T. Edwards, Mark A. Hatcher, Jessica Lynn Hylton, Thomas Glenn James, Jessica Keatts, Leanne Elizabeth Martin, Mischelle Emberson Mason, Brandon L. Mitchell, Brian R. Owen, Jessica Nicole Poore, William A. Shortall, Ryan Lee Smith, Sabrina Rose Tribbett, Carrie G. Vest, Crystal Faith Wilkins, G. David Williams, Rebekah C.
