FERRUM COLLEGE OFFERS SPRING AND SUMMER COURSES FOR ADULTS

     Ferrum College will offer the largest selection of adult classes ever this spring and summer of 2004. Courses include: Criminal Investigations (starting May 4), Parenting (starting May 4), Art 104 – Introduction to Drawing, Art Foundation (starting June 1), Communications 201: Speech (starting June 1), Drama 101: Fundamentals of Acting (starting June 2), Math 320 – Topics in Mathematics (starting June 13), Physiology of Exercise (starting June 21), English 301 – Literature for Children and Adolescents (starting June 28), Psychology 211 – Human Growth and Development – Child and Adolescent (starting July 12) and a Praxis study course. Many of the classes will be held at the Franklin County School Board Office. Tuition costs vary.
     “Ferrum College is working diligently to offer classes in the Community and in Roanoke that will assist students who need to complete degree programs as well as Teacher Certification and Recertification.  The Physiology of Exercise is geared toward Coaches and Dr. Burns will be working with them to make the time attractive to get the class completed for the credit needed for Certification or Degree Programs,” said Jackie Scruggs, director of the Continuing and Professional Studies/Adult Education Program.
     Scruggs adds, “We will be looking toward Fall with the initial startup of the Adult Education Program offering Business Administration with an Emphasis in Management and Criminal Justice Degrees beginning in late August at the Roanoke Higher Education Center.”
