Ferrum College will host the talents of two printmakers and a sculptor for the “Three Virginia Artists” exhibit opening January 20, 2004.   A reception for the artists Charles Goolsby, Betty Branch and Rachel Denham will be held from 3:30-5:30 in the E. Taylor Greer Gallery at Ferrum on January 20, where the artists will be available to discuss their work. The reception is open to the community. The exhibition will continue until February 14, 2004.   Admission to the exhibit is free to the public.

Charles Goolsby is a printmaker and painter who teaches at Emory & Henry College. His monotypes derive from the landscape in and around Rome, Italy, where he worked during a recent sabbatical. He works in a sfumato style that Leonardo da Vinci used, producing a "smoky" atmospheric effect on the subject.

Betty Branch is a prominent and gifted sculptor from Roanoke, VA.  Branch works in a variety of sculptural media, including marble from Carerra, Italy. In this show her bronze sculptures will include bird forms.

Rachel Denham will exhibit work from her recent sabbatical in which she experimented with new non-toxic media for printmaking. The prints include monotype, etching, and intaglio-type processes, and the subject matter is broad.

Ferrum College is a four-year, private, co-educational, liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
