It’s Potter time! As fans and scholars mob bookstores worldwide for the release of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, Dr. Lana Whited will be signing copies of her book The Ivory Tower and Harry Potter: Perspective on a Literary Phenomenon during a Harry Potter release party at Cantos Booksellers in Roanoke on June 21 from 11-1 p.m. |

“None of this talk about ivory towers and academics should put off the lay reader,” said Misprint magazine. “Whited’s book presents a thoughtful collection of 16 essays from a wide number of disciplines including literature, folklore, psychology, sociology, and popular culture.” Whited, a professor of English at Ferrum College, is a Potter resource at many academic conferences.
